Egypt’s Strategy to Promote Investments in the Mining Sector

In light of the recent economic and structural reforms aimed at developing and modernizing Egypt’s mining and mineral resources sector, members of the AmCham Mining and Mineral Resources Committee met with Tarek El Molla, minister of petroleum and mineral resources, on Feb. 8. The meeting’s purpose was to learn more about the minister’s vision and explore ways the committee can support his efforts.

Committee members expressed their support for efforts to unlock the sector’s potential to make mining a significant contributor to Egypt’s economy. Members shared recommendations for a modernized mining sector, including digitalization, an online added value point system for bidders, and available and accessible information on Egypt’s strong potential as a mining hub. Members also shared their keen interest in further collaboration with the ministry, especially in human resources management.

Molla welcomed the committee’s recommendations and pledged to maintain communication channels between AmCham Egypt and the Ministry.
